Arguments are nothing but coherent and logical representations of point of view of one over the other. Presenting one’s vision is an art. Everybody is not blessed with the talent of expressing their thought process in an effective manner, though it can be learned from experience over time. There is nothing like right and wrong in an argument. It’s all about how effective you are in convincing the person next to you with a different set of mind. It’s really a challenging task but I don’t agree that the best test of an argument is the ability to convince someone with an opposing viewpoint. Instead, I believe it’s the ability to behold your thought and not let anyone hinder your peace of mind. It is very important to be expressive but remain calm at the same time. Balancing the pressure and stress is the key to success. The best strategy to win over an argument is to maintain the peace of mind and attack others.
An unstable mind cannot rationalize facts, and hence, cannot respond accordingly which gives an advantage to the opponent team. Regardless of various strong points supporting your position in any idea or thought, you won’t leave an impact on other’s minds if you are not confident and have a strategy to create your vision and make connections within the conversation with the opponent.
There are many factors that attribute to overall argument the way you express it, such as, your body language while your ideas are being attacked and the way you respond to them. The argument is not all about expressing yourself, but also listening to an opponent’s idea. It’s not always necessary to present strong points of your idea but exploiting weaker points of the opponent’s presentation can also do the magic to a great extent.
There are many approaches to win over an argument. It depends solely on the presence of the mind of the person and as I have said earlier, it’s an art. Different minds paint a picture differently depending on their understanding. Finding loopholes in the opponent’s theory and presenting one’s mastery is the key to success.
